We've made wellness another job
Somewhere between self-care and self-improvement, we forgot that taking care of ourselves wasn't supposed to feel like another performance.
I don't think this happened overnight.
It happened quietly.
Generation after generation, women learned to carry more.
To be dependable.
To notice what everyone else needed before asking themselves the same question.
Then life changed.
We stepped into careers without stepping out of many of the responsibilities we already carried.
So we adapted.
We became incredibly capable.
We learned to juggle the feminine and the masculine.
To nurture.
To lead.
To earn.
To organize.
To anticipate.
To keep going.
Eventually, productivity stopped being something we did.
It became who we believed we were.
And then wellness entered the picture.
Instead of becoming the place where we could finally exhale...
it became another list.

Sleep eight hours.
Take the right supplements.
Reduce stress.
Miss one piece of the puzzle, and suddenly there's a quiet voice asking,
"Why can't I get this right?"
The irony is heartbreaking.
Something meant to support us became another way to measure ourselves.
And our nervous systems notice.
Not because we skipped meditation.
But because underneath all the habits lives a deeper belief.
I have to keep doing more to be enough.
I don't think healing begins with a better checklist.
I think it begins with a better question.
Instead of asking...
"What else should I be doing?"
Try asking...
"What is my body trying to tell me?"
That single shift moves us from performance...
to partnership.
If you've been wondering why you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or like your body never really settles, I'd love to invite you to take my free Nervous System Assessment.
It isn't another checklist.
It's a chance to understand the patterns your body has been living in and discover where you can begin supporting it with more compassion and a lot less pressure.
To your health,
